Norwegian Security Strike

 Norwegian Arbeidsmandsforbund (NAF)

For more than 30 years, security guards inNorwayhave been undercompensated.

During these years, they have struggled to earn middle-income salaries, based on average industrial wages.  Employers in the security industry have committed to raising their wage rates to this level but then have consistently failed to meet these standards during collective negotiations.

Today, security guards inNorwayface the prospect of falling even further behind their current 85% of middle-income industrial salaries.

Based with a loss of real earnings, security guards inNorwaywent on strike one week ago and are committed to engage in further industrial action to win a decent wage increaseThe delegates to the UNI Property Services Global Meeting inDublinsupport these workers in this struggle and call on the industry to reach a fair contract settlement. The UNI PS Steering Committee will send a letter in support of the Norwegian Arbejdsmandsforbund (NAF) workers and UNI PS affiliates will engage in other solidarity actions in support of their struggle.
